Is eating a settler-colonial act? Food justice and Indigenous sovereignty

Résumé :
Debate continues over the impact and sustainability of large-scale and small-scale agriculture in Australia. There are also global debates about how to produce food in the Anthropocene and how best to establish a just food system in a changing climate and unequal world. While these are important debates to have, the impact of agriculture on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is often absent from the talk of creating a just food system. This silence is troubling considering the central role of agriculture in dispossessing Indigenous Australians.
