DECLARATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LEADING GROUP ON SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY. Social and solidarity economy (SSE): strategic means of implementing the New Urban Agenda

Résumé :
Meeting in New York in parallel with the 71st United Nations General Assembly, the States, International Institutions and civil society organization that are members of the International Leading Group on Social and Solidarity Economy (ILGSSE) adopted a declaration on “SSE as a strategic means of implementing the New Urban Agenda” which will be approved next October during the United Nations Conference on housing and sustainable urban development (HABITAT III) in Quito, Ecuador.
Surrounded by high level representatives of national and local governments who came to share their experiences, the Leading group presented the key role of social and solidarity economy in the construction of sustainable and inclusive cities and human settlements. Using concrete initiatives as examples, the ILGSSE proved that SSE is an answer to the challenges cities are facing today, particularly in terms of housing, transportation, democratic participation, solidarity and inclusion. Therefore, SSE is the bearer of a new efficiency, not only economic but also social, environmental and civic.
